Autel MaxiBAS BT506 Unboxing & Battery Analysis Tips

The Autel BT506 is a battery and electrical system analysis tool that use as adaptive conductance an advanced battery analysis method, to produce a more accurate examination of the battery’s cold cranking ability and reserve capacity, vital to determining a battery’s true health. MaxiBAS BT506 enables technicians to view the health status of vehicle's battery and electrical system. Download the free and easy-to-use mobile app, available for iOS and Android devices, to use with the BT506 to perform testing and display test results.

Note: The BT506 Does Not Have a Screen! To perform testing and display test results the BT506 must be used with an Autel MaxiSys Tablet or Other Smart Device (Free iOS or Android Apps Available).

This article will show you how to use Autel BT506 for battery test & diagnosis.

  1. Autel BT506 Unboxing

    The package has the BT506 main unit and positive and negative alligator clamps on the side. The clamps are polarity protected even if you reverse the clamps or put the negative on the positive terminal, it's fine.

  2. MaxiBAS BT506 Pairing

    Let's set it up the BAS app runs on both apple and android devices, here's our quick start guide riht on the bottom, here is a QR code. Linking to the BAS app download the app and log in with your autel account registered email address and password.

    Once logged in the screen displays with instructions to pair the BAS tester with our device, you just scan the QR code on the back of the tester. Press and hold the power button on the tester,back on the app, we tap on the me icon at the bottom of the screen and then tap bas manager to ensure the tester sucessfully connects to the device and that the firmware is up to the date

  3. BT506 Battery Out-Vehicle Test

    First,let's test this 12 volt battery, it's for a smaller Vehicle, it has a CCA rating of 370. Tap out of vehicle test ,the BT506 displays how to correctly connect the clamps to the terminals and we select the CCA right here, then we press begin test. Here are our results, the tester gives us an all green odometer-like rating with a 94 of SOH or state of health and a 63 SOC or state of charge, and it tells us that the battery is good but it needs to be recharged. That's a comforting note because this battery has been in a vehicle vacationing in a garrge for the whole winter

  5. Autel BT506 Battery In-Vehicle Test

    Tap in-vehicle test, we can populate the vehicle's information fields and complete the required data on the application. We read the CCA off the battery and input it into the screen, then connect the clamps. We'll follow the step-by-step instructions to first test the battery. Then test the starter and finally test the altern alternator with the conditon of each component displaying on the screen. Once completed we can scan the report and print or share it.
