How to Add a New Key for Mercedes - Autel IM608 Add Key

Programming keys to a mercedes poses a tough problem for techs, for most models you need to use the VCI and XP400 Pro and when all keys are lost you should use the G-BOX2.

But first, let’s add a key. So like with any car we should perform a pre-scan on our vehicle, after we get our car’s info by automatically detecting our VIN. We can choose status scan.

Our Scan comes up clean, so let’s move on to the next step which is “add key”.

We are connected to the car via the OBD and with the XP400 Pro and we’re already have a working key

So we’re going to select add key and since we are connected to the car Via the JVCI to the OBD, we will select on vehicle.

When you are ready to begin,press begin, follow the instructions on screen to place the working key in the programmer.

First we need to press any button and hold it close to the program, next insert the working key into the programmer and press OK.

Now let’s take our blank key and put it close to the programmer and press any button on the key,now take the working key out and place the blank key in,press ok.

Is there a key password we do not have a password, so we need to take this working key and get the password, select no,we will enter the password calculation process.

Take the blank key out of the programmer and select begin, for this process we may need to place the working key into the ignition a few times but do not turn the ignition on.

Now once we reach this step we can turn the ignition on, now we take our working key out of the ignition and place it in the programmer.

Now that we have our key password, we can proceed with adding our new key.

Let’s take our blank key and place it in the programmer.

Our new key is successfully added, now let’s check to see if the new key works by turning on the engine and locking and unlocking the door.
